Garmin G1000 Ground Course

System knowledge and operation of an integrated flight deck

The 1-day course comprises theory by means of advanced learning material (CBT, simulations) and training in practice with the D-SIM-42.

All aspects of flying with the most advanced glass cockpit are covered:

  • Basic layout of the PFD and interpretation of data presented

  • COM and NAV tuning, audio panel, transponder

  • Navigation with ground based aids, GPS direct-to and flight plan navigation

  • MFD pages, MAP setup, AUX 4 setup, NEAREST airport selection

  • Emergency modes

  • Approaches (ILS, VOR, GPS), holding pattern, procedure turn, DME arc, missed approach

  • Integration of auto pilot

The course is offered separately or in combination with the DA42 Twin Star Ground Course.

Students undergoing practical DA42 training with Horizon may choose the Virtual Transition & Procedure Course VTP as distance learning variant.
