In conjunction with strong demand for training within our Airline Cadet Programme, we are searching for a Freelance FI(A) Instructor (variable hours)
ABOUT US:Horizon Swiss Flight Academy was founded in 1979 and is currently the largest flight school in Switzerland with over 180 cadets enrolled in the training program to the frozen ATPL. As a sister company to Helvetic Airways, we train young people to become professional airline pilots. Horizon provides a training that fully meets today’s standards in pilot training. After a 18 to 36 month training course (full time or part time) our cadets are best prepared to apply as ready-entry first officers at European airlines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructs according to the rules of EASA Part FCL, the Operations Manuals provided by Horizon, rules issued by the competent authority, and the training syllabi provided by Horizon;
- Plan schedules according to student’s wishes whenever possible;
- Inform the Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) in written form in case of training deficits and deviation of the student;
- Perform structured and efficient briefings/debriefings within defined time-limits and according Horizon procedures;
- Appears in a positive, correct and motivated way, and be the most important representative of the company in front of the student;
- Behaves in a way to positively represent Horizon and serve as a well-situated example for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 25 years old, maximum age 60 years;
- Hold an EASA Part FCL CPL(A) or ATPL(A) Licence;
- Hold an FI(A) with the privileges to instruct for PPL(A), CPL(A), Night, SEP(land), MEP(land) and IR(A) ME;
- Hold a valid EASA Part FCL Medical Class I;
- Hold at least a Language Proficiency English Level 4;
- Hold a valid Class Rating SEP(and) and MEP(land);
- Hold a valid IR(A) on MEP(land);
- Swiss or EU-25/EFTA Citizen, or foreign citizen with B or C residency permit in Switzerland;
- Residency within 150 km from Zürich Airport;
- Minimum language requirements: German B2 and English B2 (CEFR);

Horizon sucht Nachwuchsfluglehrer unter den eigenen Absolventen, um Studenten im Airline Cadet Programme zum frozen ATPL zu bringen. Dieses Förderprogramm ermöglicht es qualifizierten Kandidaten ohne finanzielle Vorleistung dieses Prorgamm zu durchlaufen. Da unterschiedliche Kandidaten mit unterschiedlichem Hintergrund in das Programm einsteigen, ist das Ausbildungsprogramm variabel. Grundsätzlich unterscheiden wir jedoch zwischen Kandidaten, welche bereits ihre FI-Berechtigung haben und damit nur die Qualifikation als CRI/IRI brauchen und Kandidaten, welche ohne Instruktionskenntnisse einsteigen werden.
Voraussetzungen
Folgendes sind die Voraussetzungen für die Aufnahme in das FI-Förderprogramm:
- Bewerber müssen Horizon Absolventen des Horizon-ACP (oder ehemals «Classic» Ausbildung) sein (Externe Kandidaten werden nicht zugelassen)
- Gültige EASA CPL(A) Lizenz
- Gültiges IR Rating und Class 1 Medical
- Mindestens 800 Stunden IR Erfahrung
- Mindestens 1000 Stunden Multi-Pilot Aeroplane Erfahrung
- Gültiges Class Rating SEP(Land) mit mindestens 5 Std SEP (Land) innerhalb der letzten 6 Monate
- Die Aufnahme in das FI-Förderprogramm setzt eine bestandene Selektion als FI bei Horizon voraus
Ausbildungsprogramm
Je nach Vorqualifikationen beinhaltet das Ausbildungs-Programm folgendes:
- Teaching & Learning Seminar (Kandidaten ohne Vorqualifikation als FI)
- FI-Kurs (Kandidaten ohne Vorqualifikation als FI)
- 200 Std. als FI(A) auf SEP (Land) «Under Supervision» (Kandidaten ohne Vorqualifikation als FI)
- ggf. MEP/IR Renewal
- ggf. 30 Stunden PIC (MEP)
- CRI/IRI Kurs
Kosten und Verpflichtung
Die Kosten des Ausbildungsprogramms liegen je nach Vorqualifikationen zwischen CHF 22'000 und CHF 68'000, welche Horizon vorfinanziert. Je nach Ausbildungsprogramm stehen Bundesfördergelder (VFAL) in Höhe von CHF 10'000 bis CHF 22'500 zur Verfügung. Nach Abzug der Bundesfördergelder von den Gesamtkosten wird der Restbetrag zwischen dem Kandidaten und Horizon je zur Hälfte getragen. Der Kandidat verpflichtet sich im Gegenzug für mindestens 3 Jahre bei Horizon 200 Instruktionsstunden pro Jahr zu absolvieren. Die Hälfte, die vom Kandidaten getragen wird, wird über 3 Jahre an Horizon abbezahlt.
